A small team of specialists who take CFD seriously

We’re not a large firm with a CFD department. We’re a CFD company, period.
And that focus shows in the quality of what we produce.

Two women having a discussion in a modern indoor lounge, seated on a white sofa surrounded by large green plants, with a glass wall behind them letting in natural light.

Our Story

In 2010, the options for engineering teams that needed serious CFD assistance were limited. You could either go to a large generalist consultancy where CFD was one of 20 services, or you could try building the capability in-house. Neither worked particularly well; the generalists didn’t go deep enough, and in-house CFD without the foundational understanding often produced results that looked plausible but weren’t right.

We set up Desanco as an alternative - a company where every engineer was employed specifically for CFD, held a postgraduate qualification in numerical fluid dynamics, and understood that the value of CFD to a project team is only as good as the person interpreting the results. The idea was simple: clients get better outcomes when the engineers doing the CFD actually understand it at a fundamental level - not just the software, but the physics and numerics behind it.

Fifteen years later, that’s still how we operate. The projects have gotten more varied and in some cases more complex, but the approach hasn’t changed. We endeavour to understand what you’re actually trying to achieve, we build models that reflect the real physics of your problem, and we give you results you can rely on.

Meet The Team

Our mighty team is built around intellectual curiosity, innovation, fast execution and a passion for all things fluid dynamics.

Team members of Desanco - Albert.

Albert

  • With more than 20 years experience in engineering design and manufacturing, Alby is our expert for projects involving product design and engineering optimisation. With an innovation mindset, he has helped bring many products to market and loves to tinker with engineering systems.

Likes: EDM, anime, exploring new cuisines (especially Mexican).

Interesting fact: Once got lost in the city, made a few wrong turns, and discovered a new favourite restaurant - proof that not every detour is a mistake.

Team members of Desanco - Midhun.

Midhun

  • An Aeronautical Engineer with expertise in thermal and CFD analysis. He is our resident AI/ML guru and is passionate about applying fluid dynamics to solve complex, real-world problems through simulations and engineering insights.

Likes: Mountain biking, solo travelling, playing cricket.

Interesting fact: While hiking in the mountains, often finds himself thinking about wind flow patterns over terrain - turns out, even on a trail, you can’t escape fluid dynamics!

Team members of Desanco - Craig.

Craig

  • Craig founded Desanco as one of the first specialist CFD companies in Australia. Still heavily involved on the technical side, you’ll usually find him refining processes, drinking coffee and ensuring Desanco is an inspiring place to be.

Likes: Lazy summer afternoons, sci-fi, anything with chocolate in it.

Interesting fact: Originally wanted to be a pilot, but his eyesight had other plans - so became an engineer instead.

Team members of Desanco - Ravi.

Ravi

  • A Masters-qualified Mechanical Engineer, specialising in simulation-driven problem solving for thermal and HVAC systems. Whilst leading and inspiring our CFD team, Ravi values a balanced approach that combines analytical thinking, creativity and physical endurance.

    Likes: Trekking, hiking.

Interesting fact: An avid badminton player at an intermediate to advanced level.

Team members of Desanco - Jesse.

Jesse

  • An Aerospace Engineer and skilled with CAD packages including Solidworks and coding with Python. With a background in wind engineering, CFD and defence component maintenance, Jesse has a strong interest in defence systems and emerging technologies such as AI.

    Likes: History, drawing, weight-lifting.

Interesting fact: Bought a manual car without knowing how to drive manual!

Team members of Desanco - Mehrdad.

Mehrdad

  • Mehrdad has over 10 years’ experience in CFD with a focus on turbulence modelling, internal flows, medical devices and related fields. As one of the pillars that ensures the technical quality of our work, Mehrdad’s strengths are CAD modelling, meshing and identifying the most suitable approach for complex problems.

    Likes: Financial markets, novel writing.

Interesting fact: First to admit he is not a good swimmer, but still enjoys anything that involves water.

Team members of Desanco - Aravind.

Aravind

  • Aravind is a mechanical engineer and project manager with over 8 years of experience across building services consulting, contracting and mission-critical operations, with a strong interest in solving complex technical problems and improving system performance. Naturally curious and analytical, he enjoys finding innovative ways technology can improve workflows and decision-making.

    Likes: Badminton, hiking.

Interesting fact: What starts as “just exploring something new” usually turns into hours of deep dive and asking, “But what happens if I try this instead?”

Team members of Desanco - KB.

KB

  • Skilled in industrial applications of CFD modelling, KB truly enjoys working on simulations that solve real-world engineering problems; every model feels like it has a story to tell, and he is always eager to understand what the flow is trying to communicate.

Likes: Exploring new places and their cultures.

Interesting fact: As a youngster, used to be amazed at how his hand would bend against the wind whilst travelling - that small curiosity about air flow turned into a professional interest in aerodynamics.
